Frequently asked questions.

Quick answers to the most-asked questions. If something here doesn't cover what you need, the Discord is the fastest way to reach us.

Will my school or proctor detect this?

From the outside, the unit is indistinguishable from a stock TI-84 graphing calculator. No external buttons, ports, lights, or markings give it away.

That said, no device is 100% undetectable in 100% of scenarios. Strict proctored environments that physically inspect calculators, X-ray bags, or jam radio signals may flag any modified hardware. Use at your own risk.

How does the ChatGPT call actually work?

Internally the calculator runs a small board that connects to a network and forwards your prompt (or photo, on the camera variant) to the OpenAI API. The response comes back and renders on the calculator screen.

The unit needs a connection to reach OpenAI. Setup steps and connectivity details ship with the device.

Does it look any different from a stock TI-84?

No. The entire chassis is unchanged — same plastic, same buttons, same screen surround. All modifications live inside the case.

The camera variant has a single ~5MP pinhole on the rear that is intentionally hard to spot at arm's length. The typing variant has zero outside changes whatsoever.

What if it breaks?

Your 8-digit identification number (emailed to you at purchase) is your order reference. We use it to look up which order you are and the API key we assigned to your unit — it is an order ID, not a physical serial number on the calculator itself. Keep it safe.

Units that arrive dead-on-arrival or fail within 7 days of delivery due to a manufacturing defect on our end are eligible for replacement. All returned units are inspected: if the fault is ours, we replace it; if the unit was damaged by the customer (drops, water, modifications, misuse) we do not refund or replace. See the Refunds page for the full policy.
