Why pick the typing variant
The standard variant is the more discreet of the two. With no outside changes whatsoever, it's indistinguishable from a regular TI-84 even on close inspection. The tradeoff is that you have to type your question — for long problems, that's slower than the camera flow.
If you'll be working off paper a lot, consider the 5MP Camera Calculator: it has one small (deliberately subtle) lens on the rear but lets you skip typing entirely.
