cheatcalc
how it works

Two ways to ask. One screen for the answer.

Every cheatcalc unit is a stock-looking TI-84 with GPT-5.5 routed through the hardware. You ask a question one of two ways, and the answer renders on the built-in display. That's it.

The typing flow (every unit)

The typing flow is available on both the camera and standard variants. It uses the existing keypad — no extra buttons, no visible changes.

  1. Hold the 2nd + alpha modifierThis puts the keypad into prompt-entry mode. The screen shows a small cursor.
  2. Type your questionUse the alphabet keys to spell out the problem the same way you'd type it into a phone.
  3. Hit enterThe prompt is sent to GPT-5.5. Response time is typically under 3 seconds.
  4. Read the answer on the calculator displayThe standard TI-84 screen shows the response. Scroll if it's long. No external screen.

The camera flow (camera variant only)

If your unit is the 5MP Camera Calculator, you get a second way to ask — point and shoot.

  1. Aim the back of the calculator at the problemThe 5MP camera is hidden in the rear casing. Hold it about 6-12 inches from the paper.
  2. Press the hidden capture buttonOne discreet button triggers photo capture and sends it to GPT-5.5 in a single action.
  3. Wait ~3-5 secondsThe image is encoded and uploaded; GPT reads it and replies. Slightly slower than typing because it's reading the photo.
  4. Answer renders on the screenSame screen as the typing flow. No external display ever.

What you don't see

From the outside, every cheatcalc unit looks identical to a stock TI-84 graphing calculator. There are no extra LEDs, no external ports, no markings, no visible modifications on the typing variant. The camera variant has a single pinhole on the back that is intentionally hard to spot.

The 8-digit identification number emailed to you at purchase is your order reference. We use it to look up your order details and the API key we assigned to your calculator. Keep it somewhere safe — it's how you identify yourself to us if you ever need support.

Which variant should I get?

Pick the Typing Calculator if you want zero outside modifications and don't mind typing problems by hand. Pick the 5MP Camera Calculator if you want to skip typing and point at the problem instead — at the cost of a small (intentionally subtle) lens on the rear.
